To stand or not to stand that is the question!

Having just heard that the Hamilton game is off due to lack of covers on the pitches I am wondering if I should take a wee trip in the Barcelona rain and look for match! This wee serving of paella and bovril is from last weeks match against Falkirk! A lovely 2-2 draw that sounded positive from Raith in the first half with a 2 goal advantage. But in usual style it was not meant to be and we got a 2-2 draw in the end.  PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME  RAITH 2 - 2 FALKIRK  JAN 2012 Paella and Bovril Anyone who has visited Barcelona and has taken a baby step off the tourist routes surely would have noticed that the city has a fair few football pitches, on top of car parks and “on top” of one of the main motorways round the city! Well, when I say football pitches, they aren’t the grassy fields with the massive white council goalpost that I used as a kid but purpose built artificial surfaced centres. The main reason for this being that there are no gr...

I will huff and I will puff and I will blow your stadium away

Roman Stadium "almost" still going after a few hundred years and I bet a few hundred K of winds! So hurricane bawbag and his big dangly bro have been slapping Scotland hard with a wee bit off wind! Between this a very short lived Raith Rovers cup run, the new from the homeland has been a bit dismal. Must be post Christmas blues!  Oh well! Chin up folks, we have a few weeks of "good" football left and everyone needs to get behind their teams! enjoy this serving of Paella and Bovril.  PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM AND IT'S MATCH DAY PROGRAMME! Paella and Bovril With 2012 well and truly here, Christmas a distance memory and those annual New Years resolutions back to being resolved next year, our thoughts turn to the next big thing, summer.   Where to go on holiday, what will the weather be like, how much rain will London receive during the Olympics and the biggest question of all, how to fill the close season between May and Augu...

26 floors, Fireworks and it's all about the Refs (again)

Happy New Year! I saw the bells in with some fireworks and 26 floors above Barcelona so it was a great start to the year. Well not so happy now (let us get the bad stuff done early on I say), a Raith defeat and my washing machine has just unloaded onto the neighbours below!  It seems to come round every year, a bit like the recent festive period, referees and their deision making. Did it cross the line, was it a penalty, should It have been a card the list could go on.  This time round I have decided to give you a a mix a letters and paella. This first serving of Paella and Bovril is an old one but still a fresh topic.  The second is just a wee observation.  Enjoy! PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM AND IT"S MATCH DAY PROGRAMME  Letters from Barcelona You cannot escape it, Christmas time is here again! I know it is only November but here in Barcelona the Christmas lights are up and shops are full of decorations and yummy treats. As for many ...

Dear Father Christmas Now this year I have been a very good girl a good percentage of the time. As a result I would like for Christmas a clean sheet for the Rovers. We have been a bit "leaky" as of late and am sure the lads would love all the help they can get, not had a clean sheet since OCTOBER!!  Cheers Carol xx PS Hope you like Paella and Bovril, I know you are a big Raith fan but maybe some of your elves support other teams. I am sure they would like it too so pass it round! This Paella and Bovril first published in the match day programme of December 10th  2011, Raith v Livingston. Raith 0 - 1 Livingston  PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR MATCH DAY PROGRAMME Paella and Bovril Barcelona has been illuminated with over 65 Km of the streets covered in festive lights and the shops are blaring out the cheesiest Christmas mixes. This year they have built an ice rink in the middle of the city with a massive tree beside it. Unlike other years Barcelona is getting tore in t...

My words how time flys! Here we are about to hit December and Christmas will be upon us before we know it!  I am happy to say that this time round "Paella and Bovril" is coming on the back of a Raith Rovers victory. It seems that a few extra heart beats are getting the team  going. Sad times also in football this weekend with the passing of Gary Speed at the weekend. My thoughts are with his family and friends.  PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL CLUB AND IT'S MATCH DAY PROGRAMME. Paella and Bovril Being a fan a one of the smaller clubs could be described as riding roller coaster every season. Will you go up, will you go down, will you get a wee cup run and now we have Can we pay the bills ? to contend with. Clubs for sale, stands closing, players not being paid are now all too familiar in football all over the world. It is a ride every football fan wants off of!   At times like these you can find yourself wondering why? But what we need to do at times l...

OMFG the weather here in Barcelona has me searching for two of every animal and a wikihow video on "how to build your own ark!"  Gosh it does seem like ages since I have been able to post the latest "paella and bovril" with a Raith Rovers win behind it! However even from a far I know that support is what needed, from everyone! I hear that a solar related publication may have headed it's lines with something a tad upsetting for those reading and from whom it came! Just remember that a newspaper is now yesterdays news! With twitter, facebook, the whole world wide web to keep your news, today's! I suppose I am trying to say that teams like Raith need your support, today, tomorrow and for years down the line! PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM AND IT'S MATCH DAY PROGRAMME! The last few months have work have been a bit hectic to say the least and I have been working more hours than usual. A few weekends ago it was to be my first weekend “w...

Gosh it seems like a life time since I last served up a Paella and Bovril! I have been trapped by the wonderful world of work and have been out of contact with the real world for what feels like years!  To those who are new to Paella and Bovril or a thinking of trying this a a football blog, but a wee bit different. Even if you are not a fan of the mighty Raith Rovers you will still love this blog! This weeks wee serving is another blast from the past and will contain a "letters from Barcelona" from last seasons match day programme against Stirling Albion. The summer leading up to this letter home was filled with the stories of the Chilean miners!  Hope you enjoy this week side serving of Paella and Bovril! PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MATCH DAY PROGRAMME! Letters from Barcelona Summer is drawing to a close here in Barcelona. My tan is now just a few freckles and I have swapped the t-shirts for a jumper. It is still 22 by mid-day most days. I have swapped my morning ...
