Hola
Well here we are again. I have been in Madrid the past week, with no internet aaaahhhhhhh.
As I am sure every raith fan away from Stark´s Park is aware
Raith Rovers Abroad is up and running! Please check them out! Well worth it.
What a sad time for Scottish Football, even without internet i was still kept up to date with the Rangers money problems. Unfortunatly it has made the news here!
Any way enough of my pre rambling before the main course of Paella and Bovril
PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL TEAM AND THEIR MATCH DAY PROGRAMME

Paella and Bovril
A wee touch of homesickness for the motherland can strike in the oddest of places. The other day in the gym, whilst cycling to nowhere to the sound of AC/DC, I looked up to see Braveheart being shown on the multitude of screens. From what I could gather thru the sweat was an Oscar movie special weekend music thing! Nothing like a few shots of men in skirts running in the rain to make you a little hungry for home, and of course we had to have the rallying war cry speech set to music. Now we have to admit that the whole face-painted, skirted man shouting about freedom is a little cheesy, but the one thing to be proud of is that us Scots will rally round in a crisis, and Scottish football needs that right now!
Unless you have been living in a cave in Outer Mongolia you are aware that Scottish football, well all football really is on the brink of financial doom. If there was ever a time for clubs to need its supporters to rally round, now is the time.
Living in Barcelona for a good few years has made it hard to feel part of the Raith community. During hard times, of which a being a Raith supporter there have been many, and names we do not mention! As a fan living abroad you cannot even do the basic thing of going to the match. Although now thanks to the guys at Raith Rovers Abroad ( For information check out http://raithroversabroad.net/ ), I can get a season ticket to listen to the matches! This is a huge thing. I, along with quite a few expat Rovers are going to benefit from a service that hopefully will benefit the club. (Listening at the weekend my blue nose boyfriend commented “maybe Rangers now will be my ‘wee team’ instead of Rovers”. It isn’t funny, really)
I have lived with a Rangers fan for over 8 years and he never thought he would see the day when his club was on the brink of extinction! Regardless of your loyalties it is never good to hear that a club could be no more, never mind the effect it could have on the whole of Scottish football. Could Rangers rally the troops to save the club, was it that type of crisis my boyfriend asked.
Small club normally equal local clubs, large clubs have a much wider spread of fans. Rangers already have 1000s of fans through the door every week and hundreds worldwide in supporters clubs. How could they rally round more? This could, maybe already is a disaster for our beloved game.
Clubs all over the world are starting to feel the pinch, fans no longer have the money to come to the matches, transfer fees are not what they used to be, but still the cost of running a club goes up. How can our clubs survive, can fans save the clubs in these times. Our local rivals Dunfermline, who are openly admitting to struggling in the aftermath of the burst financial bubble had only an attendance of under 3000 the other week. If Scotland’s top league can’t get punters in, how can small clubs even contemplate surviving? But they have to survive, don’t they!
If a major club with a world famous rivalry struggle should rival fans be happy to see them struggle. I do not care if your team wear pink, purple or green with red
